This And That: Marking One Year
Today marks one year since my husband and I arrived in Hong Kong!
I don't usually post quotes, but I do save the ones I read that speak to me. I saved the one below a few weeks after we arrived in Asia because I thought it summed up in the prettiest words so many of our feelings about moving abroad -- the justification, hopes, cravings (for food mainly but also experiences), fears, uncertainties. You name it, I have felt it this past year.
I have seen and learned more in these 12 months than I have in any other year, but the most important lesson I've been hit with over the head repeatedly is one about partnership -- how deeper and more fulfilling a bond can become when you live by the mindset described in the quote below, but with the one person who means the most to you.
PS -- this quote is often incorrectly attributed to F. Scott Fitzgerald because it's from the film "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button," which is based on the author's short story. But experts on the World Wide Web say the passage was created for the film.
